MARSEILLES, France, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Arnaud Clement beat Mario Ancic, 6-4, 6-2, in Sunday's final of the Open 13 tennis tournament at Marseilles, France.

Clement, ranked 65th in the world, was a wild card entry in this event and also qualified for the title match in 1999. On Saturday, he shocked reigning French Open champion Rafael Nadal, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, in the semifinals.

"I have just lived a dream week of the sort that I have rarely known," said Clement, 28, who is a native of nearby Aix-en-Provence. "I have not played at such a level in a long time, at least not consistently."

For his victory, Clement, a local favorite and one-time ball-boy at this tournament, captured the first prize of $85,000. He was appearing in his first championship match since losing to Rainer Schuettler at the Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon in October of 2003.
