COL BKB: Marquette 57, Georgetown 51

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Steve Novak scored 19 points Thursday night as Marquette beat 17th-ranked Georgetown, 57-51.

Novak, who was 5-for-8 on three-pointers, added a steal and three rebounds; Dominic James had 16 points, five assists, three rebounds and three steals; and Jerel McNeal added 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Golden Eagles (17-8, 7-5 Big East), who broke a two-game slide.

Roy Hibbert, was the only Georgetown player in double figures, had 17 points and eight rebounds; Brandon Bowman had seven points, five rebounds and four assists; and Ashanti Cook had seven points and two assists for the Hoyas (17-6, 8-4 Big East), who have lost two in a row after a seven-game winning streak.

Georgetown, which plays at 4th-ranked Villanova on Sunday, out-rebounded Marquette, 27-25, but committed 16 turnovers.
