Dementieva, Schnyder among Diamond winners

ANTWERP, Belgium, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Russian Elena Dementieva and Swiss Patty Schnyder were among Tuesday's first round winners at the Proximus Diamond Games in Belgium.

The fifth-seeded Dementieva, who won in Tokyo two weeks ago, got past Estonian qualifier Maret Ani 6-3, 6-2, while the lefthanded Schnyder, seeded sixth, beat promising Dutch wild card Michaella Krajicek 6-0, 6-4.

No. 9 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia dispatched Czech Zuzana Ondraskova 6-1, 6-0.

In other action, France's Tatiana Golovin defeated Belgian wild card Kirsten Flipkens 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) and will face top-seeded Kim Clijsters on Wednesday.

Poland's Marta Domachowska downed Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-4, 6-2 and Serbian Ana Ivanovic won over Italian Roberta Vinci 6-3, 6-3.
