COL BKB: Memphis 80, Southern Miss 41

MEMPHIS, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- Third-ranked Memphis routed Southern Mississippi, 80-41, for its 12th straight win Tuesday night.

Rodney Carney netted 15 points and Kareem Cooper posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Tigers (23-2, 10-0 Conference USA).

Shawne Williams and Darius Washington each chipped in 11 points in the win.

Courtney Beasley matched the game-high 15 points while David Cornwell added 10 for Southern Mississippi (8-17, 2-8), which has dropped eight of its last nine games.

Memphis started the game with a 17-4 spurt, which Chris Douglas-Roberts capped with a layup midway through the first half.
