NHL: Tampa Bay 5, Carolina 3

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Fredrik Modin scored twice to lead Tampa Bay to a 5-3 victory over Carolina Thursday night.

Evgeny Artyukhin and Vinny Prospal also scored for Tampa Bay, which has won four of its last five games. Brad Richards registered three assists and Ruslan Fedotenko added an empty-net goal in the victory.

Aaron Ward, Anton Babchuk and Erik Cole each scored for the Hurricanes, who have now dropped two of three on the heels of a five-game winning streak.

With the contest tied 3-3 midway through the third period, the Lightning took the lead for good on Modin's second goal of the night.
