Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
HOUSTON, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Quarterback David Carr of the Houston Texans Friday agreed to a contract extension.
ESPN.com reported the 6-foot-4 inch Carr got an $8 million bonus for three more seasons.
Carr -- the No. 1 overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft out of Fresno State -- has passed for 10,624 yards, 48 touchdowns and 53 interceptions in four NFL seasons. He has started 59 of the 64 games in the expansion team's brief history.
In 2004, he threw for 3,531 yards and 16 touchdowns while leading the Texans to a franchise-best 7-9 record. Last season, he completed about 60 percent of his 423 passes for 2,488 yards, 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
"I am looking forward to having him lead us to a championship in Houston and to help me become the best quarterback I can be," Carr said about new coach Gary Kubiak.
In 2005, the Texans were 2-14 under Dom Capers.
