Protests may stop Denmark-Israel match

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Denmark may cancel a friendly soccer match its team has scheduled in Israel on March 1 because of rising Muslim anger over Prophet Mohammed cartoons.

Israel's Ha'aretz newspaper, quoting Danish media reports, said a final decision about the match is expected by Feb. 21.

Israeli Arabs Monday protested the cartoons outside the Danish embassy in Tel Aviv, the report said.

The manager of the Danish soccer association was quoted as saying he hoped the match would proceed as part of his country's preparation for the World Cup.
