VINA DEL MAR, Chile, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Jose Acasuso beat Nicolas Massu, 6-4, 6-3, Sunday in the final of the Movistar Open Vina del Mar, Chile.
Acasuso became the first player to win the singles and doubles titles at the same ATP event this year. He had teamed with Sebastian Prieto to win the doubles crown on Saturday.
With his win on Sunday, Acasuso won his third career title in his seventh ATP title match, all of which have come on clay.
"I am very happy to win this title in Vina," Acasuso said. "It is special to win in one week singles and doubles. I think I played very well, especially (Sunday). I think I prepared well for the match with my coach and things worked out perfect."
Massu failed in an effort to win his sixth career title.
Acasuso earned the $52,500 first place prize. Massu claimed $30,600 as the runner-up.
