TORONTO, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Alexei Ponikarovsky scored two first-period goals Saturday as the Toronto Maple Leafs posted a 4-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils.
Ed Belfour made 36 saves to help Toronto to win for only the second time in its last 12 games (2-8-2). Tomas Kaberle added a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, and teammates Nik Antropov and Jason Allison each had two assists.

Brian Gionta and John Madden had third-period goals for the Devils.
New Jersey goalie Martin Brodeur, who had five shutouts over his previous 15 starts, allowed three goals on the first five Toronto shots.
