PROVIDENCE, R.I., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Hilton Armstrong had 16 points and 12 rebounds Saturday as top-ranked Connecticut beat Providence, 76-62 for its seventh straight win.
Rashad Anderson had 15 points and four rebounds; Denham Brown had 10 points and eight rebounds; Rudy Gay had 10 points and four rebounds; and Josh Boone added nine points and 13 rebounds for the Huskies (18-1, 6-1 Big East).
Donnie McGrath had 18 points and four rebounds; Randall Hanke had 16 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots; and Sharaud Curry had 15 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Friars (9-9, 2-5 Big East), who had a two-game winning streak snapped.
UConn had a commanding 52-34 edge in rebounding. The Huskies committed 12 turnovers, and Providence made only seven.
