NHL: Detroit 2, Vancouver 1

DETROIT, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Brendan Shanahan's 100th career game-winning goal Thursday night gave Detroit a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Nicklas Lidstrom scored the other goal; Robert Lang; Mathieu Schneider; Jason Woolley, and Steve Yzerman had assists; and goaltender Manny Legace made 14 saves for the Red Wings (33-13-4), who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Anson Carter scored the lone goal in the first period on assists by Daniel Sedin and Mattias Ohlund while Alexander Auld made 33 saves for the Canucks (28-18-5), who have dropped three games in a row.

Detroit out-shot Vancouver, 35-15. On the power play, the Red Wings were 2-for-6 while the Canucks went 0-for-4.
