Ostertag suspended by the Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- The Utah Jazz suspended center Greg Ostertag indefinitely Thursday for conduct detrimental to the team.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that the 7-foot-2 inch, 280-pound Ostertag failed to attend the team's morning practice session Thursday -- following an incident after Utah's 113-94 loss to Seattle on Wednesday night. No details about the incident were disclosed.

The team said the suspension is expected to last until the Ostertag meets with Jazz vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor, Coach Jerry Sloan and team owner Larry Miller.

Ostertag, a first round pick by Utah out of Kansas in the 1995 draft, is averaging three points and 4.3 rebounds per contest in 41 games this season. In 737 games, he has career averages of 4.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and nearly two blocked shots per contest.
