COL BKB: Illinois 77, Minnesota 53

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Dee Brown totaled 17 points, five assists and four rebounds Wednesday night as 7th-ranked Illinois thrashed Minnesota, 77-53.

Reserve Jamar Smith had 16 points, two assists and three rebounds; Brian Randle had 10 points and eight rebounds; while James Augustine added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Fighting Illini (18-2, 4-2 Big Ten), who have won two straight after dropping two of three.

Illinois set a school record with its 32nd straight win at home.

Maurice Hargrow and Vincent Grier each scored 14 points; and J'son Stamper had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Gophers (9-8, 0-6 Big Ten), who have lost six straight games, all conference contests.

It was their 14th straight loss to Illinois, which also won the rebounding battle, 35-29.
