
ATLANTA, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Nik Caner-Medley had 33 points and eight rebounds Wednesday night as 19th-ranked Maryland beat Georgia Tech, 86-74.
Mike Jones had 12 points, two assists and four rebounds; Ekene Ibekwe had 10 points and three rebounds; and James Gist added 10 points and four rebounds for the Terrapins (14-4, 4-2 ACC), who have won three straight.
Maryland was playing its first game since the dismissal of senior point guard Chris McCray, who has been declared academically ineligible. Maryland Coach Gary Williams (348) is one win shy of becoming the school's all-time winningest basketball coach behind "Lefty" Driesell.
Ra'Sean Dickey had 18 points and 11 rebounds; Anthony Morrow had 18 points and three rebounds; and "Buck" Frederick added 10 points and three assists for the Yellow Jackets (9-8, 2-4 ACC), who have dropped two in a row.
The Terps won the battle of the boards, 30-23.
