Danish soccer clubs investaged over taxes

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Danish tax officials are investigating 36 soccer clubs for alleged failure to pay $2.4 million in taxes in the past two years.

Denmark's national broadcaster, DR, reports several clubs from the Superleague are among those under scrutiny. Inspections of 12 clubs already have been completed, Tage Christensen of the Danish taxation administration told DR.

The alleged infractions involve player transfers and non-payment of agent fees, the Copenhagen Post reported.
