NHL: Chicago 4, Colorado 2

CHICAGO, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Kyle Calder scored two goals Thursday night to lead Chicago over Colorado, 4-2, breaking Colorado's eight-game winning streak.

Jim Dowd and Mikhail Yakubov each added a goal; Radim Verbata had three assists and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin, who had missed 10 straight games because of a groin injury, made 37 saves for the Blackhawks (16-25-6), who have gone 3-1-2 in their last six games.

Marek Svatos and Antti Laaksonen had goals; and David Aebischer was beaten four times on 25 shots for the Avalanche (27-18-3).

The Blackhawks easily out-shot the Avalanche, 39-25. On the power play, Colorado finished 1-for-10 while Chicago was scoreless on four chances.
