Maryland reinstates Travis Garrison

COLLEGE PARK, Md., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Forward Travis Garrison has been re-instated to the men's basketball team at No. 22 Maryland.

The 6-foot-8 inch senior from Suitland, Md., had been suspended from the team last Sunday by Coach Gary Williams for an incident at a bar near the College Park, Md., campus last fall. He was cited for breaking a team rule that prohibits players from frequenting a bar at any time.

On Oct. 27, 2005, Garrison is alleged to have grabbed the buttocks of a woman and slapped her. Last Friday, he appeared in Prince Georges County, Md., District Court to face charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense. The outcome of the case has not been determined.

In 15 games this season, Garrison is averaging 9.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest. During his suspension, Garrison missed one game -- last Sunday's 90-86 win over Wake Forest.

The Terrapins are at home against Virginia Tech Saturday night.
