NHL: New Jersey 5, St. Louis 3

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Brian Gionta scored two goals and Martin Brodeur moved into fifth place on the all-time NHL win list Tuesday as New Jersey beat St. Louis, 5-3.

Brodeur made 26 saves on the way to his 424th victory, moving him past Tony Esposito for the fifth spot. John Madden had a goal and an assist and Patrik Elias and Jamie Langenbrunner each added three assists for the Devils, who have won seven straight.

Doug Weight and Mike Sillinger each had a goal and an assist for the Blues, losers of seven straight.

St. Louis goalie Curtis Sanford stopped eight of 11 shots before being replaced by Jason Bacashihua, who made seven saves.

St. Louis is in last place in the NHL with 25 points.
