ORCHARD PARK, N.Y., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson said Saturday that Marv Levy, who was named general manager on Thursday, will not be the team's next head coach.

The team announced the resignation of Coach Mike Mularkey Friday. There were rumors that Levy, who has more wins that any other coach in Bills' history, would return to the sidelines.

"Marv and I entered into an agreement initially that made him the general manager of the Bills," said Wilson. "He was hired to be GM and would never coach the team."

Levy, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, led the Bills to four straight AFC titles in the early 1990s. He echoed Wilson's sentiments.

"In order to clear up any misunderstanding from my comments at Friday's press conference regarding the position of head coach for the Buffalo Bills, I want to say unequivocally that I am here to serve as the general manager/football operations," Levy said.
