NEW YORK, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Jaromir Jagr scored 14 seconds into overtime Thursday night as the New York Rangers beat Edmonton, 5-4.

Jagr added an assist, while Petr Prucha and newly acquired Petr Skyora also finished with a goal and an assist and goalie Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves for the Rangers (25-12-7), who have won three straight.

Michael Peca scored twice, Ales Hemsky also had a goal and an assist, Jarret Stoll had two assists, and goaltender Jussi Markkanen made 17 saves for the Oilers (24-15-5), who have dropped five of their last eight games.

In a lavish pre-game ceremony, the Rangers retired the No. 11 jersey worn by former New York and Edmonton great Mark Messier. Nearly the entire 1993-94 squad was on hand to honor the 16-time All-Star and NHL's second-leading all-time scorer, who broke into tears several times.
