
ATLANTA, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa scored the only shoot-out goal Wednesday night as the Atlanta Thrashers beat the Nashville Predators, 4-3.
Hossa also had two assists, Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and an assist, Slava Kozlov and Marc Savard scored goals, Andy Sutton and Scott Mellanby assisted once, and goaltender Kari Lehtonen made 23 saves as Atlanta beat Nashville for the third consecutive time. The Thrashers have won five of their last six games and Kovalchuk has 10 goals in his last six games.
Yanic Perreault scored twice and Darcy Hordichuk scored once, Marek Zidlicky added two assists, Vernon Fiddler Paul Kariya, Scott Walker and Steve Sullivan all had one assist, and goalie Tomas Vokoun made 38 saves for the Predators, who had their modest two-game winning streak broken.
Atlanta had a big 43-29 edge in shots on goal. The Predators went 1-for-5 on the power play while the Thrashers were 2-for-10.
