Tommie Harris' wife dies

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Jonathan Cheechoo got a hat trick and Joe Thornton added a goal and three assists to lead San Jose over Columbus, 6-3, Thursday night.
Grant Stevenson and Christian Ehrhoff also scored goals and Vesa Toskala made 28 saves for San Jose, which has won two straight after a four-game skid.
Nils Ekman notched a career-high four assists for the second straight game for the Sharks.
Rick Nash scored two goals and Michael Rupp added his third tally of the season for Columbus, which has lost two straight after winning three in a row.
