Hrbaty, Berdych advance again at Adelaide

ADELAIDE, Australia, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Dominik Hrbaty and Tomas Berdych were winners in Friday's quarterfinals at the Next Generation Adelaide International tennis event in Adelaide, Australia.

Hrbaty, who won the event in 2004, beat Kenneth Carlsen 7-5, 6-3, while Berdych topped Philipp Kohlschreiber, 6-1, 6-4.

"I'm very happy to be in the semifinals here again," Hrbaty said. "I played well from the baseline and served better as the match went on."

Florent Serra beat Jarkko Nieminen, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2. Xavier Malisse easily downed Andreas Seppi, 6-0, 6-1, in a match that took only 48 minutes.

In Saturday's semis, Hrbaty meets Serra while Berdych will square off against Serra.

The winner of this tournament will earn $57,750.
