INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Jim Sorgi tossed two touchdown passes Sunday as Indianapolis beat the Arizona Cardinals, 17-13, in the return of Coach Tony Dungy.
Dungy missed last week's loss at Seattle following the death of his son.
Sorgi -- who saw extensive playing time as Peyton Manning was rested -- went 21-for-31 passing for 207 yards, the two scores and one interception.
A number of other starters were kept out of the contest, including running back Edgerrin James, who was a healthy scratch. Defensive stars Bob Sanders, Cato June, Corey Simon and Robert Mathis also were rested because of nagging injuries.
Josh McCown completed 31-of-42 passes for 297 yards for one touchdown and one interception; Anquan Boldin had eight receptions for 81 yards; and Larry Fitzgerald added six catches for 80 yards and a score for the Cardinals (5-11), who were denied a chance for victory when an apparent score by McCown with 13 seconds remaining was reversed.
