HOUSTON, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Peter LoCoco booted a 44-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter Saturday as 14th-ranked TCU beat Iowa State, 27-24, in the Houston Bowl.

Robert Merrill ran for 108 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries; Jeff Ballard was 21-for-32 passing for 277 yards, one touchdown and one interception; and Michael DePriest made three receptions for 97 yards and a score for the Horned Frogs (11-1), who closed the season with a 10-game winning streak.

Bret Meyer went 20-for-33 for 249 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while Todd Blythe had five catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns for the Cyclones (7-5), who lost their last two games.
