
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Marcus Stone threw for one TD and Andre Brown ran for another Saturday as N.C. State blanked South Florida, 14-0, in the Meineke Car Care Bowl at Charlotte.
The Wolfpack (7-5) used a strong defensive effort to force three turnovers and finished the season with five wins in their last six games. Stone was 9-for-19 passing for 127 yards, with one TD pass and no interceptions; wide receiver Brian Clark added three catches for 66 yards and one touchdown; and running back Toney Baker gained 93 yards on 23 carries as N.C. State recorded its first bowl game shutout.
Andre Hall rushed for 118 yards on 19 carries while Kyle Bronson missed a 47-yard field goal try and Pat Julmiste was just 8-for-27 for 91 yards for the Bulls (6-6), who lost their last three games of the year after opening at 6-3.
