
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Matt Sylvester sank a three-pointer from the left corner with 5.5 seconds left Saturday as 20th-ranked Ohio State edged LSU, 78-76.
To remain unbeaten, the Buckeyes needed a game-ending 20-3 surge as the Tigers led by 73-58 with just under six minutes left to play.
Terence Dials registered 24 points and eight rebounds, Ron Lewis scored 14 points and Je'Kel Foster added 12 points for Ohio State (10-0), which was out-rebounded, 30-27, and made 18 turnovers to LSU's 16.
Glen Davis had 25 points and seven rebounds, Tyrus Thomas rang up 14 points and 11 rebounds and Tasmin Mitchell added 12 points and five assists for LSU (7-4), which has lost three of its last four games.
The Tigers' four losses have come by a total of 10 points.
