EL PASO, Texas, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Brandon Breazell returned two on-side kickoffs for fourth quarter touchdowns Friday as No. 17 UCLA overcame Northwestern, 50-38, at the Sun Bowl in El Paso.
The Bruins (10-2) trailed the contest by 22-0 in the first quarter, but recovered to lead by 29-22 at halftime.
Chris Markey rushed for 151 yards on 24 attempts; Kahlil Bell added 135 yards on 19 carries and two scores; and Drew Olson was 10-for-24 passing for 143 yards, three touchdowns and three first quarter interceptions for UCLA, which has won only three times in its last nine bowl games.
Brett Basanez went 38-for-70 for 416 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Northwestern. Ross Lane recorded seven catches for 136 yards and Tyrell Sutton ran for 89 yards on 18 attempts -- and added seven catches for 74 yards and one touchdown -- for the Wildcats (7-5), who missed two extra points and had a field goal blocked.
