Larry Johnson among AFC weekly winners

NEW YORK, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Kansas City running back Larry Johnson Wednesday was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

The third-year pro out of Penn State compiled 131 yards rushing on 32 attempts and one touchdown while adding four pass receptions for 48 yards and another touchdown in the Chiefs' 20-7 victory over San Diego. Johnson moved past Christian Okoye to become Kansas City's third all-time single-season ground gainer in posting his eighth consecutive 100-yard game.

Also honored were Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter on defense and kick returner Terrence McGee of Buffalo on special teams.

Porter recorded three sacks and forced a fumble as the Steelers buried Cleveland, 41-0.

McGee, who leads the NFL with a 31-yard kick return average, had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Bills' 37-27 upset win at Cincinnati. He returned five kickoffs for a total of 220 yards.
