ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- James Davis rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown Tuesday as the No. 23 Clemson Tigers beat the Colorado Buffaloes, 19-10, in the Champs Sports Bowl.
Charlie Whitehurst threw for 202 yards on 20-of-28 passing with an interception and also ran for a score for the Tigers (8-4), who ended the season with six victories in their last seven games.
Brian White threw for 81 yards and a touchdown on 7-of-12 passing after replacing James Cox in the fourth quarter for the Buffaloes (7-6), who ended their season on a four-game losing streak.
Defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz was Colorado's interim head coach for the game after replacing Gary Barnett, who stepped down earlier in the month following seven seasons at the Buffaloes' helm.
The Buffaloes have named Dan Hawkins, 45, as their new head coach. Hawkins has been head coach at Boise State for the past five seasons.
