Badger rusher arrested again

MADISON, Wis., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- University of Wisconsin rusher Booker Stanley has been charged with assaulting a young woman in his apartment.

The new arrest could blow a plea agreement that would have spared Stanley a jail term for his arrest in April after a fight at a block party, the Wisconsin State Journal reported. Stanley's lawyer told the newspaper he would have been allowed to plead guilty under a deal that would have given him a clean record if he stayed out of trouble, but the hearing was canceled after the new arrest.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, told police she and Stanley were arguing about their relationship when he began choking her. When she tried to call police, he threw her cell phone across the room.

Stanley was suspended after the April incident and reinstated in August, missing two practices. The Badgers play Jan. 2 in the Capital One Bowl in Florida, but Stanley could very well miss the game.
