Angels trade Finley for Alfonzo

ANAHEIM, Calif., Dec. 21 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Wednesday traded center-fielder Steve Finley to San Francisco for third baseman Edgardo Alfonzo.

The 32-year old Alfonzo batted .277 with two home runs and 43 RBI in 109 games for the Giants last season. He has a .287 lifetime batting average with 146 home runs and 739 RBI and was a National League All-Star in 2000 while with the New York Mets.

Finley, 40, had a disappointing year for the Angels in 2005, batting just .222 with 12 home runs and 54 RBI in 112 games.

"Steve Finley is a player that can win games in many ways -- with his bat, his glove and his knowledge," Giants general manager Brian Sabean told MLB.com.

The veteran outfielder has a .273 lifetime average with 297 career home runs and 1,125 RBI in 17 major league seasons with Baltimore, Houston, San Diego, Arizona, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Angels.
