Lions put Bailey and Holmes on IR

DETROIT, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- The Detroit Lions placed linebackers Boss Bailey and Earl Holmes on injured reserve Friday.

Holmes has started 10 games for the Lions this season and was second on the team in tackles with 73. He is out with a bad knee.

Bailey has made 59 tackles. He is out with a bad ankle.

The Lions have signed linebacker Matt Grootegoed and receiver Glenn Martinez from the practice squad to take the places of Bailey and Homes on their roster.
