SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- San Francisco 49ers running back Kevan Barlow, the team's leading rusher, will miss Sunday's game at Jacksonville because of a bruised left knee.
Barlow, who has rushed for 581 yards this season, missed a Week 13 loss to Arizona before returning to action last week against Seattle, where he managed just 33 yards on 11 attempts.
Rookie Frank Gore and Maurice Hicks should get the bulk of the carries against the Jaguars in Barlow's absence.
San Francisco anticipates the return of star defensive end Bryant Young for the Jacksonville game. The four-time Pro Bowl selection missed the team's last three games because of a right-knee sprain.
Cornerback Shawntae Spencer is listed as questionable for Sunday. He had an MRI on his injured quadriceps Friday, which showed a muscle strain but no further damage.
Wide receiver Arnaz Battle has been ruled out for the Jacksonville game with a knee injury.
