NHL: CAROLINA 2, COLUMBUS 1

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Rod Brind'Amour scored both of Carolina's goals as the Hurricanes beat Columbus, 2-1, at the RBC Center.

Cory Stillman added his 19th assist of the season for Carolina, and Aaron Ward had an assist as the Hurricanes won for the fourth time in their last five games. Goaltender Martin Gerber had 25 saves.

Michael Rupp scored the Blue Jackets' only goal. Pascal Leclaire stopped 30 shots for Columbus, which lost for the third time in its last four games.

Columbus was scoreless on four power plays.
