Coach Mike Mularkey said Losman suffered the injury during the first quarter of last Sunday's 35-7 loss to the New England Patriots.

Losman was scheduled to undergo a MRI Tuesday and his status will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

The second-year signal-caller has spent two different stints as the starter this season, completing just 49.6 percent of his passes for 1,340 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Giants place veteran safety Williams on IR

East Rutherford, NJ, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- The New York Giants placed veteran safety Shaun Williams on injured reserve with a bad hamstring.

Williams, an eight-year veteran who missed the team's five previous games, suffered the injury in the first quarter at San Francisco on Nov. 6. Williams had 16 tackles and two interceptions on the season.

"We had been hoping Shaun would get back to full strength," said Giants Coach Tom Coughlin. "Shaun has been working hard to get back on the field. Unfortunately, he has an injury that takes time to completely heal."

Oakland gets Bradley from LA Dodgers

OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 13 (UPI) -- The Oakland Athletics Tuesday got outfielder Milton Bradley and infielder Antonio Perez from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Athletics gave up outfield prospect Andre Ethier.

Bradley, 27, suffered through an injury-plagued 2005, hitting .290 with 13 homers and 38 runs batted in.

In 2004, the Dodgers took a chance on Bradley, who had shown the potential to be an outstanding player. His two years in LA was mired by clubhouse problems and arguments between Bradley and management.

Bradley in 2003 with Cleveland hit 10 home runs and batted .321 with 56 RBI and 17 stolen bases. Bradley, who is recovering from knee surgery, is a .269 career hitter with 54 home runs, 233 runs batted in and 54 stolen bases while also playing with Montreal.

Perez, a 25-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, hit a team-leading .297 in 98 games for the Dodgers last season.

Brown held the dual role at the school for more than three years. Richard Margison, UAB vice president for finance and administration, will take on the additional responsibility of athletic director on an interim basis.

"This allows Watson to focus solely on recruiting, evaluating where the football program stands and putting into place the elements necessary for a successful season next year," said UAB President Carol Garrison.

The Blazers' football team finished 5-6 this past season after losing to Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl in 2004.
