NHL: Detroit 4, Washington 3

WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Henrik Zetterberg scored twice Friday night as the Detroit Red Wings slipped past Washington, 4-3.

Nicklas Lidstrom recorded one goal and two assists; Pavel Datsyuk added a goal and an assist; and goaltender Chris Osgood made 27 saves for Detroit (20-8-2), which won its second straight and became the second team to win 20 games this season. Detroit forward Jason Williams had his seven-game point streak broken.

Jamie Heward registered one goal and two assists; Alexander Ovechkin had a goal and an assist; Jeff Halpern and Chris Clark added assists; and Olaf Kolzig stopped 26 shots for Washington (9-17-2), which has dropped seven of its last eight games.

Both teams took 30 shots. The Red Wings went 3-for-6 on the power play while the Capitals were only 1-for-7.
