NHL: Edmonton 3, Philadelphia 2

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Ethan Moreau tallied on two short-handed goals Thursday night as Edmonton beat the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2.

Jarret Stoll also scored once. Ryan Smyth, Steve Staios and Stoll had assists, and goalie Mike Morrison made 30 saves for the Oilers (16-11-2), who have won five of their last seven games.

Sami Kapanen and Branko Radivojevic scored goals; Turner Stevenson and Mike Knuble had assists; and Antero Niittymaki made 25 saves for the Flyers (16-7-4), who have lost two of their last three contests.

The Flyers out-shot Edmonton, 32-28. The Oilers were 1-for-5 on the power play while Philadelphia went 1-for-8.

The injury decimated Flyers again played without Keith Primeau, Robert Esche, Peter Forsberg, Eric Desjardins and Joni Pitkanen.
