DALLAS, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The Detroit Tigers have signed controversial free agent left-hander Kenny Rogers to an undisclosed contract.
MLB.com reported it is for two years and $16 million.
In the past two seasons with Texas, Rogers was 32-17, winning 18 games in 2004, and going 14-8 with an ERA of 3.46 in 30 starts last season. He also made the American League all-star team.
The 17-year veteran has pitched for five clubs and has a career record of 190-131.
"His pitching style, I think, shows that when you don't have your best stuff, going out there and putting in your innings you can still win ballgames, and that gives a lot of pitchers confidence to do that," his agent, Scott Boras told MLB.com.
Incidents with two cameramen in late June led to his ouster from the Rangers and cost him a 20-game suspension, which later was reduced by an arbitrator.
