NHL: Ottawa 6, N.Y. Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Vaclav Varada had one goal and two assists Friday afternoon as the Ottawa Senators topped the New York Islanders, 6-2.

Jason Spezza and Peter Schaefer each had one goal and an assist. Dany Heatley, Patrick Eaves and Denis Hamel added goals. Peter Schaefer, Bryan Smolinski, Antoine Vermette, Chris Phillips, Daniel Alfredsson and Andrej Meszaros each had one assist, and goaltender Dominik Hasek made 31 saves for the Senators, who have won four straight and nine of their last 10 games.

Heatley ran his season totals to 16 goals and 18 assists. Alexei Yashin and Alexei Zhitnik also scored goals, and goalie Rick DiPietro, who faced 45 shots, recorded 39 saves for New York (11-11-1), which has dropped two in a row and three of its last four games.

The Senators compiled a healthy 45-33 advantage in shots on goal. Ottawa was 3-for-6 on the power play while the Islanders went 1-for-6.
