NHL: New Jersey 5, Florida 1

SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- New Jersey scored three goals in a span of just 93 seconds late in the first period Wednesday night as New Jersey beat the Florida Panthers, 5-1.

The goals were scored by Colin White, Grant Marshall and Brian Gionta. In the second period, both Alexander Mogilny and Scott Gomez added power-play goals, and goaltender Martin Brodeur made 24 saves for the Devils (10-9-2) won for the fourth time in their last six games.

Jozef Stumpel scored the lone goal while goalies Robert Luongo and Jamie McLennan allowed five goals on 35 shots for the Panthers (6-12-4), who have lost 12 in a row. That streak is one shy of the franchise record.

Florida, which has not won since Oct. 25 at Pittsburgh, out-shot New Jersey, 35-25. The Devils were 2-for-6 on the power play while Florida went 1-for-4.
