Three finalists for O'Brien Award

FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Southern Cal's Matt Leinart, Notre Dame's Brady Quinn and Texas' Vince Young were named Tuesday as finalists for the quarterbacks' Davey O'Brien Award.

Leinart, who won the Heisman Trophy last season as a junior, has completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 3,217 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The senior also was a finalist for the award last season, but lost out to Oklahoma's Jason White.

Quinn, a junior has thrown for 3,201 yards and 29 touchdowns for the Fighting Irish, completing 64.9 percent of his passes with just five interceptions.

Young, also a junior, has thrown for 2,414 yards and 22 touchdowns while running for 774 yards and eight TDs this season. He has complete 63.5 percent of his throws with eight interceptions.

The winner of the Davey O'Brien Award will be announced Dec. 8.
