NHL: Nashville 1, Detroit 0, suspended

DETROIT, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer suffered a seizure and collapsed in the first period of Monday's game against Nashville and the game was suspended.

The Predators held a 1-0 lead at the time of the suspension.

Fischer was administered CPR by team physicians and his condition was stable and responsive at Detroit Receiving Hospital. A defibrillator was administered for Fischer, who was reported to be breathing on his own.

No makeup date has been determined for the remainder of the contest.

Fischer was sitting near the end of bench when his head appeared to lower before the game was stopped with 7:30 remaining in the opening period.

Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock waved for help. Two Detroit players skated a stretcher over to the bench as the crowd stood in stunned silence. Fischer was eventually moved through the tunnel area, into an ambulance and to the hospital.
