NHL: Colorado 3, Phoenix 1

GLENDALE, Ariz., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Marek Svatos scored twice Wednesday night to help the Colorado Avalanche beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 3-1.

Pierre Turgeon contributed three assists, Patrice Brisebois, and Andrew Brunette each recorded one assist, while goaltender Peter Budaj made 21 saves for Colorado (10-6-2), which broke a two-game slide.

Mike Johnson scored the Coyotes' only goal, Ladislav Nagy and Paul Mara had assists, and goalie Curtis Joseph made 30 saves for Phoenix (9-10-2), which has lost two of its last three games.

Colorado out-shot the Coyotes by a wide 33-17 margin. The Avalanche were 1-for-7 on the power play. Phoenix was 1-for-4.
