NHL: Calgary 3, Detroit 1

CALGARY, Alberta, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Tony Amonte had a goal and an assist Wednesday night as the Calgary Flames beat the Detroit Red Wings, 3-1, for their eighth straight victory.

Chuck Kobasew and former Red Wing Darren McCarty also tallied for Calgary, which has not lost a game in November, Jarome Iginla added one assist and goalie Miikka Kiprusoff made 21 saves for the Flames (12-7-2).

Robert Lang scored the lone goal for Detroit and Brendan Shanahan had the only assist for the Red Wings, who have lost two in a row following a three-game winning streak.

Goaltender Manny Legace recorded 25 saves.

Calgary out-shot Detroit, 28-22. The Red Wings went 0-for-3 on the power play while the Flames were 1-for-4.

Detroit, which posted a 6-3 win over Calgary at home on Oct. 9, has won four of the last six games between the two clubs.
