Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
The eight-year veteran out of Georgia caught eight passes for 124 yards Sunday night against Cleveland. He also caught a touchdown pass and became Pittsburgh's all-time receptions leader with 543 catches, surpassing Hall of Fame receiver John Stallworth.
This marks the first career Player of the Week honor for the four-time all-star. He was joined by Jacksonville linebacker Mike Peterson (defense), who had 15 tackles, one sack and an interception return for a touchdown against Baltimore and punter Brian Moorman (special teams), who booted five punts for a 48.2-yard average against Kansas City.
