COL BK: Syracuse 67, Cornell 62

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Terrence Roberts had 19 points and 14 rebounds Wednesday night as Syracuse turned back pesky Cornell, 67-62.

The contest was in the second round of the Coaches vs. Cancer Class at the Syracuse Carrier Dome.

Demetris Nichols added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Gerry McNamara scored 17 points, and Darryl Watkins had seven points, nine rebounds and eight blocked shots for the Orange (2-0), who were a dismal 1-for-19 on three-point tries and needed a 15-4 run late in the contest.

Adam Gore scored 22 points, Lenny Collins added 20, and Andrew Naeve had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Cornell (1-1), which was trying to beat Syracuse for the first time since 1968. Cornell has lost 29 in a row to the Orange.

McNamara's streak of 53 straight games with a three-pointer was broken while Cornell hit 11-of-23 three-point attempts.
