Slocum wins by two at Madison

MADISON, Miss., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- Heath Slocum shot a closing 6-under 66 on Sunday and won the Southern Farm Bureau Classic at Madison, Miss.

At 21-under-par 267, Slocum won by two strokes over Carl Pettersson (67) and Loren Roberts (68), who ended at 19-under 269. Joey Snyder III ended at 18-under 270.

"I grew up close to here and had a lot of friends and family out, so it was really special," said Slocum, whose father Jack, a former Mississippi club pro, served as his caddie throughout the tournament.

A group of seven players tied for fifth place at 17-under 271. Among them, Bo Van Pelt had the best final round with a 7-under 65. John Cook, Bob Tway, Charlie Wi, Shaun Micheel and Woody Austin all shot 6-under 66. Tag Ridings (69) finished at 17-under 271.

Slocum claimed a $540,000 paycheck or the victory.
