
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A short touchdown run by Greg Jones Sunday helped the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Houston Texans, 21-14.
Jones was playing for Fred Taylor, who left the game with an ankle injury in the third quarter. Before the injury, Jones rushed for 48 yards on 12 attempts.
In his limited role, Jones gained 27 yards on seven carries. Byron Leftwich went 19-of-25 passing for 218 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He also ran for a score.
Ernest Wilford made four catches for 89 yards and one touchdown and Jimmy Smith added four catches for 52 yards for the Jaguars (5-3), who were coming off their bye week.
David Carr was 22-of-30 for 219 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions for the Texans (1-7), who beat Cleveland last week for their first win of the season. Jonathan Wells rushed for 56 yards on 13 carries, and Andre Johnson added nine catches for 91 yards.
