Mauresmo, Dementieva make Advanta final

VILLANOVA, Pa., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Amelie Mauresmo and Elena Dementieva will play Sunday for the title at the Advanta Championships in suburban Philadelphia.

In Saturday's semifinals, the fourth-seeded Dementieva advanced in a walk-over as Nadia Petrova was unable to play because of a bruised heel.

Meanwhile, Mauresmo, the No. 3 seed, topped rising Czech teenager Nicole Vaidisova, 7-5, 7-5. The seventh-seeded Vaidisova, only 16 years old, had won 18 straight matches, including three consecutive WTA titles.

Mauresmo is the two-time defending champion and the highest seed playing this week after withdrawals by Lindsay Davenport (flu), Venus Williams (knee) and Maria Sharapova (thumb).

Sunday's winner will earn $93,000.
